What is the Master of Business Administration?

The program is designed for professionals tasked with ensuring success in today's business operations. The MBA focus is on the functional areas of business, including finance, marketing, production, and administration. The MBA is a degree awarded to students who have mastered the study of business and is a popular degree choice with individuals seeking to advance their business career and increase employment opportunities available. In some cases, the MBA is required for advancement into senior management positions.

What do students enrolled in the MBA program do?

As a student in the Master of Business Administration program, you will learn to apply theoretical concepts to actual management situations, use critical thinking and decision-making skills to solve organizational problems, and practice using writing and speaking skills that are essential for effective business presentations. Additionally, you will understand Christian values, ethical issues and the legal processes as they affect the business environment. You will use technology and statistical techniques to analyze data for effective decision making and apply microeconomic principles, practices, applications, and techniques directly related to business issues.

Is this PROGRAM right for you?

You might consider a MBA if you desire advancement within your company or organization, want to enhance your marketability in a variety of fields, want to increase your salary potential, or want to move into a new industry. If you are a self-motivated, entrepreneurial individual and are comfortable in assuming leadership roles, this could be the degree program for you.

About our graduates

Our MBA graduates have earned various positions at many companies in various industries, and some have started their own businesses.

I would highly recommend Southern Wesleyan University’s MBA program to anyone interested in growing both personally and professionally. From the initial “meet and greet” to the application and ultimately beginning the first course, it is clear to see the Christian values of Southern Wesleyan faculty.

Throughout the program, there have been many aspects that I have particularly enjoyed. At the top of the list is the faculty’s commitment to helping the student. I completed my undergrad at a large state school where professors were often unreachable. This is definitely not the case at Southern Wesleyan. Each professor went above and beyond to help my classmates and I succeed. In addition, diversity is very strong. In my cohort, each faculty member and student were at different places within his or her professional life. The diversity of our backgrounds enriched the program that much further. Finally, Southern Wesleyan has been very flexible. Just three classes short of completing my MBA, I was fortunate enough to relocate once again due to a job promotion in Chicago. I was able to convert to the online program to complete the final few courses. The online classes were equally as good as in-person. While the format is somewhat different, the willingness of support from faculty remained the same through the advanced technology platform Southern Wesleyan offers. I would encourage any prospective student to consider Southern Wesleyan University!
