2015 in Review
In 2015, SWU continued on its growth trend with increased enrollment and new projects, including a USTA-designed tennis complex and enhancements to its track and soccer complex. Here are some highlights of 2015 in the SWU community.
Men's Soccer team achieves another NCCAA National Championship
Southern Wesleyan won its second NCCAA National Championship in three years in its 2-0 victory over Bethel College. Read more>>
Volleyball Team wins NCCAA South Region
The Southern Wesleyan volleyball team won the NCCAA South Region for the second consecutive year with a 3-0 sweep of Warner in the region championship. Read more>>
Greenville learning center moves
SWU had an open house Dec. 10 for its new Greenville learning center at Park East Office Park, just off Roper Mountain Rd. Read more>>
SWU dedicates Rev. Leroy C. Cox Tennis Complex
Southern Wesleyan University dedicated the Rev. Leroy C. Cox Tennis Complex Oct. 28. The new complex will house SWU's intercollegiate tennis program and become a venue for additional tennis events, such as camps and worshops, while also being open to local tennis enthusiasts. Read more>>
SWU sets new enrollment record
For the second year in a row, a record number of new students enrolled in SWU’s traditional program at Central. The university enrolled 263 new students – 194 freshmen and 69 transfer students. SWU reported a 9.3 percent over the 2014-’15 academic year for its traditional program. Read more>>
SWU awarded $1.1 million TRIO grant
Southern Wesleyan University will receive $1.1 million in federal funding over five years that will benefit the most needy groups of students, providing them with resources that will help them to realize their dream of a college degree. Read more>>
University Singers travel to Europe
The musical ensemble from SWU, already known for its musical outreach at churches and military chapels in several states, traveled to Germany and Italy in May 2015, where they performed at military hospitals and other installations. Read more>>
School of Education Nationally Accredited
Southern Wesleyan University’s School of Education recently received accreditation for seven years – until 2021 – under the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) standards. Read more>>
