Byrnes names Holcombe Teacher of the Year
Debbie Holcombe, a SWU graduate and physical education teacher, was named 2013-14 Teacher of the Year at James F. Byrnes High School.
Debbie Holcombe, a physical education teacher, was named 2013-14 Teacher of the Year at James F. Byrnes High School. Holcombe is an education graduate and is an adjunct professor for Southern Wesleyan’s School of Education. She says the honor is “a testament to the quality teacher education program at SWU.” Located in Spartanburg District 5, Byrnes is one of the largest high schools in South Carolina.
In 2009, Holcombe was selected as High School Physical Education Teacher of the Year for the southern district. She went to Tampa, Fla., to receive her award during the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance’s national convention.
