Commissioned to ministry

Southern Wesleyan University’s Division of Religion held a Commissioning Service for senior religion majors May 1 at historic Freedom’s Hill Church, located on the campus in Central.

Seniors recognized included, from left (front), Travis Hayes of Brevard, N.C.; Addai Lazo of Lowell, N.C.; Patricia Cloninger of Simpsonville; Will Henderson of Brevard, N.C.; Mark Atkins of Troy, N.C.; Charlie Fine of Spartanburg; Zach Childress of Thomasville, N.C.; and Mark Tennefoss of Harrington, Del. Standing behind the seniors, from left, are Religion professors Roger McKenzie and Bob Black; Southern Wesleyan President Todd Voss; University Chaplain Ken Dill, Religion professors Scott Frost and Mari Gonlag. The service is a rite of passage for religion students as they transition into ministry or additional ministry preparation. Preaching at the service was Wade Rogers, 2007 SWU ministry graduate and pastor of Life Journey Church, a Wesleyan congregation located in Pelzer.

Southern Wesleyan University is a Christ-centered, student-focused learning community devoted to transforming lives by challenging students to be dedicated scholars and servant-leaders who impact the world for Christ.
