Helping Habitat
A group of Southern Wesleyan University students spent part of their Fall Break working alongside staff members and Pickens County Habitat for Humanity volunteers who are helping a family realize the dream of home ownership.
Justin Carter, left, associate vice president for student life, watches as Southern Wesleyan University students Chelsea Chamberlin and Keonna Palmer install drywall in a Norris home being built for a family through the assistance of Pickens County Habitat for Humanity. Chamberlin is a freshman from Six Mile majoring in special education; and Palmer is a sophomore from Easley majoring in media communication and human resources. The students spent part of their fall break assisting Pickens County Habitat for Humanity and the Veal family in construction of their new home in Norris. The students also shingled the home’s roof.
