Lemons recognized as outstanding professor
Dr. Derrick Lemons, 1994 religion graduate, recently was recognized as an outstanding professor by the Student Government Association at the University of Georgia, where he is assistant professor of religion.
As a cultural anthropologist, Lemons’ teaching and research are guided by his interest in how religious subcultures intentionally innovate and influence greater society. He is also interested in how religion in American culture changes over time and space. He is currently doing research on the effects of the missional church movement in evangelical denominations in America, how milliennials’ theological, social, and religious community orientations influence their religiosity, and on developing an anthropologically-informed reflexive theological structure to aid research in the anthropology of Christianity.
