Partners in Time – Haydn and Mozart
Professor Jane Dill will perform W.A. Mozart’s Piano Concerto in C Major, part of “Partners in Time – Haydn and Mozart” April 21 at Southern Wesleyan University in Central.
Southern Wesleyan University invites you to spend a Sunday afternoon with the classics April 21 at 3 p.m.
This concert, titled “Partners in Time – Haydn and Mozart,” will feature selections from the two great classical composers. Professor Jane Dill will perform W.A. Mozart’s Piano Concerto in C Major, K.467 on the university’s Steinway concert grand piano. Dill, who chairs the university’s Fine Arts Division, will be the first full-time faculty member to perform a full concerto on the Southern Wesleyan campus. She has performed concertos before, including a performance of Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” in 2008 and another with the University of Georgia Symphony, which took place in 1979 at Clemson University.
“It’s a pleasure to get to do this,” said Dill, adding that students in the chorus have also worked hard rehearsing F.J. Haydn’s great Harmony Mass, meeting the challenge of performing a piece whose words are in Latin. They will be directed by Dr. Don R. Campbell, SWU professor of music and director of choral ensembles and activities. Featured soloists in the Harmony Mass will be Dr. Melanie Rowell, SWU voice professor; Dr. Brittnee Siemon from the Greenville Fine Arts Center; Dr. Grant Lewis, North Greenville University voice professor; and Dr. Christian Elser, Presbyterian College voice professor.
This concert will be held in the Newton Hobson Chapel and Fine Arts Center on the university’s campus in Central. Admission is free. For details, call (864) 644-5408.
