‘Passing the Mantle’ marks transition into college life
Students and their families, along with faculty and staff took part in a “Passing the Mantle” ceremony – a time of prayer and reflection as well as a celebration of transition into college life.
During the Aug. 16 ceremony, part of Southern Wesleyan University’s orientation, new students received medallions to mark the beginning of their educational and spiritual journey. Braeden Kershner, a SWU music graduate, shared stories of professors and university staff members who mentored him, and urged new students to “make the most of your time and soak up the amazing experience and wisdom of the faculty around you.” The University Singers ministered in song, concluding with the hymn “Great is Thy Faithfulness.”
