Mary Luck Parks Mitchell died peacefully in her Six Mile home July 23. A 1937 graduate, she met her husband, Dr. Virgil Allen Mitchell at SWU and they were married that same year. Dr. Mitchell, former general superintendent of The Wesleyan Church and SWU’s Alumnus of the Century, passed away in 2006. Mary devoted her life to being the helpful partner of this pastor and denominational leader. Funeral services for Mary were held July 27 at ALIVE Wesleyan Church in Central, followed by burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.
