Renovation reveals memories

Brothers Will (left) and Jake Vess (right) look at a doorframe with their grandfather, Rev. Willett Vess, as he points out the height marking he made of Will when he was a youngster visiting the home.
The Vess house, currently being renovated for use by the university’s criminal justice program, was built in 1906 on what is now the Central campus. Vess, who moved from the house in 2008, is pleased to see the university will use the residence to train students. Willett and his wife Mary Nell are both SWU graduates, and both Will and Jake are current students, Jake being a criminal justice major.
