SWU partners with Golden Harvest

Southern Wesleyan University’s North Augusta education center partnered with Golden Harvest Food Bank of Augusta, where prospective and current students donated food to help needy individuals and families in the area.

According to Jason Norton, regional director of Southern Wesleyan’s North Augusta education center, the university’s mission is to “give back” to the community it serves.

“We are grateful to partner with The Golden Harvest Food Bank here in Augusta,” Norton said. “Through this partnership, we are able to give back to those less fortunate in our area.”

Carrie Jones, special events manager for Golden Harvest, is grateful for the support Southern Wesleyan has provided over the past couple of years, noting that the North Augusta learning center, located at 802 East Martintown Rd., collected 125 pounds of food.

“We appreciate Southern Wesleyan University and look forward to working with them next year,” Jones said.

The donation was part of their largest food drive, “Spooky to be Hungry,” which takes place during October and collected more than 115,000 pounds of food for needy families in the Augusta area.

In addition to helping Golden Harvest’s Augusta location, students from Southern Wesleyan’s Central campus have helped out this past year at their Upstate facility near Liberty.

With regional education centers conveniently located across South Carolina, as well as fully online programs for select degrees, Southern Wesleyan University is a Christ-centered, student-focused learning community devoted to transforming lives by challenging students to be dedicated scholars and servant-leaders who impact the world for Christ.
