Carol Burdette, a 1982 psychology graduate and chief professional officer for United Way of Anderson County, was named the chair of Ten at the Top (TATT).

Curt Lee (Jr.), a 1986 SWU graduate, was awarded a doctor of philosophy degree from Middlesex University London in collaboration with London School of Theology.

Detra Fipps, a 2008 English education graduate and sixth-grade Gifted Language Arts teacher, was named Teacher of the Year at R. Dan Nolan Middle School in Bradenton, Fla.

Debbie Holcombe, a SWU graduate and physical education teacher, was named 2013-14 Teacher of the Year at James F. Byrnes High School.
