Life at SWU : New Student Orientation : Orientation Checklist
Here is a checklist of things to do at new student orientation.
- ID Card: Have your ID card created.
- MySWU: Learn how to log into your MySWU account.
- Register your Vehicle: If you have brought a vehicle to campus, you need to register it and receive your parking decal. Registration is free for all current students. Make sure to place your parking decal on the car on the driver side/bottom corner/front windshield. You can register online at http://my.swu.edu. You will need your MySWU log-in information.
- Find your Parking Space: Identify the appropriate parking lot for your decal.
- Medical Forms: Make sure you have submitted all necessary medical paperwork to the University Nurse (e.g. medical history form and immunization form).
- Contact the University Nurse: Contact Lori Herron, University Nurse, at if you have a medical concern that you need to alert the University about.
- Select a Meal Plan: If you are a residential student, review the different meal plan options and pick the one that works best for you.
- College Payment Plan: Review your financial aid package and address any questions with the financial aid counselor.
- Complete Housing Forms: If you are a residential student, complete the Residential Life Check-In Form and Student Contract.
- Find Facebook Friends: Interact with other new students at different sessions and through social media.
- Get your Mailbox Combination: Stop by the SWU Post Office located on the main floor of the Campus Life Center and obtain your SWU mailbox and combination.
- Find your Classes: Familiarize yourself with campus buildings and classroom locations on your schedule.
- Show your Pride: Wear your SWU “Warrior Pride” shirt to the basketball game.
- Get your Books: Stop by the SWU Bookstore and obtain all of your books for the upcoming semester. Make sure you ask the attendant for assistance so you know exactly which books you will need. Also, Ask about our book rental program.
- Get to your First Class: Go to your first Personal Wholeness Class session. Continue to attend all Personal Wholeness classes.
- Register for Accommodations: Contact Martha Mishoe, Coordinator of Student Learning Services, at if you have a documented learning disability and need to seek appropriate accommodations.
- Meet your Advisor: Schedule a time to meet with your academic advisor for 5-10 minutes during the first couple of weeks.
- Make Friends: Register for intramurals by visiting IM Leagues page.
- Give us Feedback: Complete the Orientation Survey. The orientation survey will be available after August 16, 2015.
