Fall for Leadership

Friday, November 6, 2015

Purpose

Fall for Leadership supports service learning as way for students to understand the concepts of leadership. Service learning is a method of learning that combines meaningful community service with instruction and reflection activities to enhance leadership learning. By reflecting on our times serving on ministry teams, missions, summer internships, community service through the Day of Service (and other community service projects), or serving our community through participation in a campus organization or sports team, SWU students will have a better understanding of their own leadership potential.

Theme: Leading through Service

The theme for Fall for Leadership 2015 is Leading through Service. There are many valuable leadership lessons we can learn through hard work and service to others. Many students would be shocked and surprised that leadership skills such as time management, supervision, project management, communication, visioning, problem solving, etc. can all be learned through community service.

Audience

As a learning community, all members are invited to present and participate in the conference. All programs should be tailored to the student experience.

Scriptural Reference

The scriptural reference for this leadership conference comes from 1 Peter 4:10, "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms" (NIV).

Interested in Presenting

If you are interested in presenting at this conference, please fill out the Call for Programs form. A conference committee will meet to discuss all proposed programs.
