Full-Time Economics Faculty- Central, SC

Located in the beautiful upstate region of South Carolina, Southern Wesleyan University (SWU) is a Christ-centered, student-focused learning community devoted to transforming lives by challenging students to be dedicated scholars and servant leaders who impact the world for Christ. Along with a vibrant, traditional undergraduate program, SWU has adult and graduate studies learning centers in four major cities across the state in addition to its main campus.

 Southern Wesleyan University invites applications for a full time Business faculty position in the area of Economics/ Finance.  This will be a 12-month, tenure track positions which will begin July  1, 2016. The successful candidate will serve at a combination of our learning centers in the Upstate (Central, Greenville) or Columbia, North Augusta and Charleston- All located within South Carolina; some travel is required. The university is actively seeking to increase the number of women and minorities within its faculty.

 Primary Responsibilities

  • Teaching responsibilities are primarily students in SWU’s Adult degree programs and, as needed, in the traditional programs. Includes both face-to-face and online modalities. Courses include Economics, Statistics and Finance in the undergraduate and graduate business programs.
  • Curriculum and program development.
  • Engage in program and course assessment.
  • Maintain a research agenda and publish in journals in related field.
  • Engage in service activities.
  • Serve on assigned committees related to university functions.

 Qualifications/Requirements

  • Academic. An earned doctorate in economics/ finance. Relevant industry experience or applied research is strongly preferred. The entry level of the candidate will be determined by terminal degree, qualifications and experience.

  • Technology. SWU is committed to maximizing the use of technology in its daily operations and in achieving its strategic goals. The ideal candidate will be comfortable and familiar with the use of technology within the academic environment including distance learning and learning management systems, web-based, and PC applications including all Microsoft Office applications.
