GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The AVP for Educational Excellence is responsible for initiatives related to institutional effectiveness and strategic planning, as well as for tasks essential to the operation of the Provost’s Office. Working in collaboration with the Associate Vice President of Planning and Assessment, this position also facilitates the continuation of regional and program accreditation and university accountability reports and studies. Reports to the Provost.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares research and reports essential to institutional effectiveness and strategic planning.
- Provides support for strategic planning, assessment, program review, and accreditations.
- Assists in the collection, analysis, and assessment of data for institutional effectiveness.
- Manages databases for the Office of the Provost.
- Coordinates major events, committee work, and activities of the Office of the Provost.
- Completes special projects as requested by the Provost, including academic proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations.
- May represent the Provost at meetings and events.
- Facilitates the continuation of regional and program accreditation, working collaboratively with the Associate Vice President for Planning and Assessment.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- An advanced degree in a social science or other relevant field—master’s degree required, doctorate preferred.
- A strong understanding of statistics is required.
- Must be well-acquainted with higher education administration, the planning and assessment process, and the requirements for regional accreditation.
- Must be able to work as part of a diverse team and be able to consult, advise, and work cooperatively with faculty, administrators, and staff.
- The candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent report-writing skills as well as effective interpersonal, analytical, and oral communication skills.
- Prior experience in a university setting, including teaching experience, is valuable.

- Physical/Environmental Requirements
- Visual acuity necessary to do editorial work, proof documents, and manage.
- Requires ability to sit for periods of time in an interior office environment. May require infrequent lifting of objects up to 10 pounds, and occasionally items up to 20 pounds.
