GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Located at Southern Wesleyan University’s learning center in Greenville, South Carolina, the Student Services Coordinator reports to the Regional Director for Recruitment Services. The goal of the Student Services Coordinator is to ensure efficient communication of all Adult and Graduate Studies policies and procedures to current students, and to provide the highest quality academic student services, including academic advising. In addition, the position is responsible to compile various reports when required by the Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Working collaboratively with members of various departments, the Student Services Coordinator will support the mission of Southern Wesleyan University, ensure optimum customer service, offer support to students, faculty, and staff, and encourage students, faculty and staff to integrate faith and learning as integral parts of daily living. Data analysis and problem solving are also required. The primary functions of the position are as follows:
- Conducts thorough and accurate academic advising for all students assigned to the learning center, both graduate and undergraduate. Processing all transfers between programs, consulting all students on academic schedule changes, initiating schedule change processes, processing paperwork, and ensuring the efficient progression of students toward graduation. The position plays an integral part in the retention of Adult and Graduate studies students.
- Serves as point of contact for student questions / concerns.
- Assists students in requesting special accommodations or filing for disability services.
- Coordinates the processing of all grievances, complaints, and appeals from both instructors and students.
- Follows-up with withdrawn students.
- Manages the in-house book delivery process.
- Administers various surveys as needed.
- Works collaboratively with Enrollment Management to strategically enroll new students.
- Oversees student registration/orientation.
- General filing as required by position.
- Supervises the Site Assistant by coordinating projects for scheduled work hours, covering the Site Assistant duties in the absence of a Site Assistant, and providing general supervision and oversight for the Site Assistant position.
- Assists various University departments in communicating with students.
- Oversees facilities management or reports facility needs to other designee as deemed appropriate at the individual site, and coordinates / accommodates room rental opportunities.
- Prepares and maintains reports on a monthly basis, including tracking reports on current students, crime report, withdrawal report, and advising report.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications and skills are required:
- Master’s degree preferred; Bachelor’s degree required.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize concerns, requests and expectations to meet deadlines.
- Experience in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), office equipment such as a scanner and copier.
- Capacity to work effectively and cooperatively with students, university faculty, and administration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and detail oriented.
- Desire to be a team player.
- Excellent keyboarding skills.
- Works independently to meet expectations and deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Ability to listen to all points of view in analyzing situations and to use sound judgment in the decision-making process.

- Physical/Environmental Requirements. This position requires the ability to effectively communicate program policies and procedures to students, as well as to effectively communicate with faculty, staff and administrators in various University departments. The person in this position should have a proactive style in pursuing resolutions to student issues. Indoor work environment. Ability to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment. Heavy visual acuity: This is standard of color, depth perception and field of vision for use with work dealing with designing, preparing and analyzing data; transcription; computer terminal visualization. May require infrequent lifting of objects up to 30 pounds. May require occasional travel or work outside of regular work schedule for special events.

SALARY INFORMATION
Salary Level V - $29,964/year with benefits. This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
