PROFILE:

Dr. Darryl Jachens has served as a SWU Fine Arts Division faculty member since 1987. One of his major goals over the years has been to work with students towards integrating their faith, learning and living.

With his assistance, the SWU Music Department was selected for membership in the National Association of Schools of Music in 2008. In April 2014, Jachens was named Faculty Member of the Year for 2014-15 and received the Ken Dickens Award for Excellence in Teaching, an award that recognizes outstanding teaching, service to the university, service to students, and scholarship.

Since 1995, Jachens has been the Music Director and Conductor of the Greenville Concert Band, an adult community band serving the Upstate region of South Carolina. Along with a wonderful wife, his family includes two sons, their wives, and eight beautiful grandchildren!
