PROFILE: | Professor Staci Johnson has taught Biology courses at SWU since 2005, and now teaches a range of courses including General Biology, Animal Science and Microbiology. While completing her M.S. in animal physiology and working toward a Ph.D. at Clemson University, her research focused on endocrine control of reproductive cycles in beef cattle; However, teaching at a university was always her career goal. Currently, Johnson is conducting research on technology use in the active learning classroom. She is also the laboratory and safety officer and chair of the research compliance committee. In these roles, Johnson works to ensure safe handling of hazardous materials and waste and ethical research practices across the university. Johnson grew up in East Tennessee on a beef cattle farm. She served as a State FFA Vice President and was later selected as an American Royal Student Ambassador. In addition to her work at SWU, Johnson is a wife and mom of three. Her family worships at Clemson Presbyterian Church. She enjoys running, making music, reading lots of books, attending sporting events and being at the beach.
