PROFILE: | James McDonald is from Prosperity, S.C. He graduated from Mid-Carolina High School and moved to the Upstate to attend North Greenville University and Furman University.
McDonald began his law enforcement/forensics career as the first drug chemist for the Greenville Crime Laboratory in 1987. He analyzed controlled substances, fire debris and gunshot residue samples. During his time with Greenville County, he served as Forensic Scientist, Crime Laboratory Director and Jail Administrator.
He retired in 2005 to accept a position at Greenville Technical College (GTC) as a member of the criminal justice faculty. Shortly after coming on board with GTC, McDonald accepted the responsibility of criminal justice department head.
After seven years with GTC, McDonald said that he was clearly led by God to Southern Wesleyan University (SWU). McDonald is the program coordinator for criminal justice and also teaches courses in the forensic science program. He has a passion for creating a rigorous academic experience and equipping Godly men and women for careers in the criminal justice field.
