PROFILE:

Originally from New Jersey, Mildred Williams was led by God to relocate to South Carolina in 1990. “Teaching as a psychology professor is considered a second career for me,” said Williams, who served as an addictions and mental health clinical therapist for more than 25 years – 20 of those years at Marshall I. Pickens Psychiatric Hospital with the Greenville Health System (formerly the Greenville Hospital System).

“I feel honored that God has selected me to take all of my clinical counseling experience into a classroom setting. This allows me to teach future clinicians in the human services and psychology programs. Teaching also allows me an opportunity to encourage our students to become individuals with strong Godly character where they display moral and ethical qualities. They are also urged to become people of integrity – all qualities that encompass a good clinician. Spending quality time with my family and serving in ministry and doing volunteer work are all important aspects of my life today,” Williams said.
