Southern Wesleyan University offers wireless Internet to enrolled students, and special guests upon request, throughout our main campus in Central and at the learning centers in Charleston, Columbia, Greenville and North Augusta.
Each building on the main campus has wireless access. Some residence halls also offer wired Internet connections using an Ethernet port in each dorm room. Resident students in Childs Hall will only have wireless access. Wireless is also available at many of our athletic facilities including the baseball, softball, and soccer fields.
In order to connect to SWU wireless network, your computer must be equipped with a wireless card or adaptor, or have integrated wireless capability. Wireless access points are B & G compatible. Upon connecting to the wireless network, you will be prompted to install our safe-connect policy key software. This network access control software helps us ensure the security and reliability of our wireless network. Your computer must meet the following criteria:
- Has a working antivirus with up-to-date definitions
- No actively running peer-to-peer file sharing programs
- Updates set to download automatically (Windows)
If your device does not meet these requirements, you will recieve a message on your screen with directions for addressing the problems. If you have any other issues connecting to the wireless network, please feel free to contact helpdesk support at (864) 644-5050.
